Course Content ~ evening class

The stained glass course is designed to allow enough time to complete an A4 sized stained glass panel within the 20 hour course time.
The course covers all the processes involved in making a panel.

This includes: cutting glass, soldering, basic colour theory, drawing up the cartoon, design considerations, designing the panel, choosing colours, costing up a panel, sourcing materials, copper foil or lead construction, weatherproofing and finishing off.

Materials for the course will cost £15.00 for an A4 sized panel. This includes: glass, solder, lead, foil and practice glass.

I have all the tools needed to complete the various tasks and supply a tool list if students want to buy their own kit.

I have been asked about taster sessions. I view the first session as a taster session as the main skill to be learned is that of cutting glass, which is covered in the first session. If anyone drops out, it is usually after the first session as cutting glass is is generally the hardest task to master.

Please contact me if you have any other questions.

Students who have previous experience can get help and advice with their projects and work in an creative environment.

I have been teaching stained glass evening class courses at Strode College since 2001. These have been 20 hours over 10 weeks with the aim of teaching the skills to complete an A4 sized leaded panel. These are on the Wednesday & Thursday evening during term time. To book see www.strode-college.ac.uk

Stained Glass is an enjoyable and satisfying hobby to learn as there are many items that can be made with glass e.g. boxes, candle holders, lanterns, lampshades, sculptural pieces as well as windows and window hangers.

I have set up a series of 1 day courses in Glastonbury and Taunton at weekends see the courses section.

I have noticed that I getting interest in the stained glass courses from groups of people in different areas from Yeovil to Midsomer Norton. Its always nicer to do a course with some friends for support. With this in mind I can offer courses for individuals or small groups in somebody’s home, workroom/shed or a local hall. As I am self employed I can fit in day time courses to suit peoples work schedules. Please contact me to discuss options. [01458 832892 or mob:- 07775765219]
